Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Dani Olmo could join Kieran Trippier at Atletico Madrid.
Spurs were keen on bringing the midfielder to north London in the summer, and now the Spaniard is being targeted by Atletico Madrid ahead of the closure of the transfer window, according to AS.
The 21-year-old, who helped his nation win the European Under-21 Championship, learned the ropes at Barcelona’s famous La Masia but currently plies his trade at Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb.
As well as Tottenham, several other Premier League sides had been linked with the winger over the summer – Manchester United, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton were all believed to have had varying levels of interest.
However, with the transfer window in England having already shut, any hopes of bringing Dani Olmo to England this year are now gone, and given how much interest there is in the starlet from across Europe.
According to the Spanish outlet, Atletico have been tracking the forward and have already held talks with the agent, Juan Manuel Lopez, but first, they must part ways with Nikola Kalinic and Angel Correa to raise funds to buy Dani Olmo and also to ensure they remain within La Liga’s salary cap.
No prospective fee or value has been mentioned for the young Spaniard, but according to Mucho Deporte, Spurs had reportedly agreed a £22.5 million deal for Dani Olmo – clearly, that did not come to fruition while in other publications it was suggested that the North Londoners were willing to go to up to £36 million.
