Arsenal entered race for 30-year-old Belgium international

Arsenal are considering moving for Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld as the defender can leave the club this summer in a cut-price £25 million deal, but the switch must be done before the final two weeks of he transfer window.

If Toby Alderweireld’s suitors want to complete a last-minute deal for his signature, the £25 million figure would no longer apply.

Manchester United are targeting a move for Toby Alderweireld, but the Sun claims Arsenal have now entered the running.

The Belgium internaitonal is considered one of the best full-backs in the Premier League but is yet to commit his future to London side, who agreed to the special release clause in his deal, which will allow the defender to move to a new club virtually hassle-free in the summer.

Manchester City are also monitoring Toby Alderweireld’s situation and could be tempted to make a bid for the centre-back.

Unai Emery is aiming to complete several bargain moves in the summer as he remains in the dark about his transfer budget. Arsenal may have just £40 million to spend if Unai Emery fails to deliver Champions League football this term.

There are yet to be any official approaches for the Belgian star, but Spurs expect a host of sides to come forward to sign the defender at the end of the season.

While Tottenham are ready for their key centre-back’s exit this summer, they are yet to give up on convincing the 30-year-old to sign a new deal.
