Arsenal keeping tabs on two top-class defenders

Arsenal’s defensive woes have been evident during the current campaign since the beginning of the season as Unai Emery’s men often looked lethal in attack but have succumbed to some disappointing results as a consequence of errors in their defence.

In addition, plenty of the Gunners key players were injured, which made life difficult for the north London side to thrive.

Arsenal have not underwhelmed, as such, this season as they have fallen off in the past couple of months and now occupy sixth place in the table, mainly owing to their failure to keep the goals out.

Free summer signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos has been a dependable addition but has not shown real quality in cruch matches expect the latest against city rivals Chelsea, where the Greek was superb.

Another centre-back and club captain Laurent Koscielny is back to full fitness but remains susceptible to spells on the sidelines after scoring to Chelsea and Manchester City.

Rob Holding is another defender who has suffered from injuries, while £35 million flop Shkodran Mustafi, who is understood to be sold in the summer, has never really convinced in an Arsenal shirt.

It seems only common sense that the Gunners dip into the transfer market next window and target a new central defender and two centre-backs were touted as potential transfer targets for Arsenal:

West Ham’s Issa Diop – who has been outstanding for the Hammer following his summer move from Toulouse and Kostas Manolas is who is good on the ball and excellent in the air.
