Gunners have their eyes set on the man who brought Jadon Sancho to Man City. London club are plotting a shock transfer plot to steal Man City’s chief talent scout. Arsenal let go of eight academy scouts on Monday as part of a huge shake-up behind the scenes at Emirates.
Technical director Edu and academy chief Per Mertesacker are planning a major reshuffle of their academy set-up, and are planning to steal Joe Shields from Man City as part of that. Shields is the man credited with bringing England international to the Citizens before his £7m move to Borussia Dortmund.
The former Crystal Palace and Fulham chief has been at Man City for more than six years, but Gunners reportedly want him to play a lead role in the club’s youth set-up going forward. Jadon spent two years in Man City before leaving for Bundesliga giants, where he established himself as one of the brightest talents in the world.
The 19-year-old forward failed to make it through to the Man City first-team squad leaving him frustrated, and when the chance never arose, he opted to leave at just 17. Since then, he has gone from the Dortmund second team to their first-team squad, where he is now a key figure.
