Arsenal reportedly not giving up hopes of signing La Liga midfielder

Arsenal are ready to re-open talks to land Sevilla central midfielder Ever Banega as Spanish coach Unai Emery looks to bring in fresh legs this summer transfer window, according to the Mirror.

With Welsh star Aaron Ramsey joining Juventus on a free transfer when his deal expires at the end of the term, The Gunners are going to be in the transfer market for reinforcements and it appears Ever remains a prime target.

Argentian international was strongly connected with a move to North London last summer while the player was touted once again in the January window but Unai was not able to push ahead with any deal after being informed there was money available only for loan transfers.

However, The Gunners chiefs will loosen the purse-strings in the summer window when fresh commercial deals kick-in and the Mirror states that Emery is prepared to renew his interest in landing Banega.

The outlet says Arsenal will re-open discussions with Sevilla over a deal and could sign the South American midfielder for just £17 million due to an exit clause in his contract.

Many will have doubts about Ever due to the fact he’ll turn 31 in June but it looks Emery is determined to link-up with him once again having previously managed the player during spells at Valencia and Sevilla.

Banega is a versatile midfielder who’s known for his wonderful passing range, he’d obviously know Unai’s system well and he has 65 caps for his country so on one hand Sevilla star would be a welcome addition to the roster.
