Blaugrana centre-back Gerard Pique has reportedly approved a potential transfer swoop for the Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez to help the club bolster at the back-line. The Spanish footballer is seemingly an admirer of Colombia international, as Catalan club consider signing to bolster their options in the back-line.
Davinson initially looked a bright prospect at previous club Ajax, though he’s struggled to establish himself during his time as a Spurs footballer. It could, therefore, make Sanchez a realistic transfer target for Barcelona, and Gerard’s apparent approval of the defender could also help push the club to get a deal done.
The 23-year-old centre-back may not be perfect, but he could be well suited to Blaugrana’s style of play and make an upgrade on the struggling Samuel Umtiti, who has had issues with both fitness and form in recent times at Barcelona.
Spurs have not had the best start to the campaign, though their form has picked up since the appointment of the Portuguese boss to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
That said, letting a player like the Colombian defender go might not be the wisest decision when they need depth at the defence, especially as Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen head towards being free agents next summer.
