The agent of Roberto Pereyra states Maurizio Sarri is a huge fan of the Watford forward and wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge in January.
The Argentine has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Hornets so far, scoring six times in the top flight, and has been linked with a move away from Vicarage Road.
Maurizio Sarri is trying to sign Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Paredes to replace Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas respectively, and now the South American’s agent claims a third Argentine is wanted by the Blues this month.
‘Do we like an Italian technician? Easy: Walter Mazzarri. But I could also say Sarri,’ Pereya’s agent, Sergio Furlan, told Tuttosport. ‘A transfer in January? In the market, you can never say never, but I tend to exclude it almost always.
‘Maxi does not want to leave his team in such a delicate moment, he is focused on Watford, and the club does not want to sell it in the middle of the championship. In these weeks Chelsea have tried for him, it is true, but also without finding a breach.
‘Maxi is a pure ball of Sarri, even if he has never coached him. I talked about it repeatedly with [Napoli president] De Laurentiis.
‘It seemed like it was done, but then the Higuain-Juve operation blew up everything, suddenly.’
