Chelsea could launch a move to land Argentina international Mauro Icardi from Serie A side Inter Milan this summer transfer market after Real Madrid pulled their long-term interest in the striker, according to reports.
A British newspaper the Sun is quoting reports from a Spanish daily outlet Marca as saying that Los Blancos are no longer interested in signing the 26-year-old star, whose long-term future has been a subject of speculation recently.
According to the same article, news of European champions pulling out of the hunt could alert the Blues, who are believed to be long-term suitors of the deadly centre-forward.
The same report goes on to state that Real Madrid dropped their interest in Mauro Icardi because of his wife-turned-representative Wanda Nara.
Mauro’s situation is currently in limbo after the player was stripped of the captaincy at Nerazzurri and dropped from the senior team.
The same story states that is because of a current contract dispute, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2021.
The South American player has been in stunning form so far this campaign, scoring nine goals and picking up two assists in 20 Serie A games.
As well as Mauro has netted four goals in six Champions League matches and two goals in Coppa Italia with also one assist to his name.
Meanwhile, Manchester United key man Paul Pogba delivered a man-of-the-match display to help his side seal a 2-0 victory over the West Londoners and book their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
