Santiago Solari’s Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on the signature of Liga NOS Porto versatile defender and reported Chelsea defensive target Eder Militao.
The 21-year-old all-around defender joined the Dragons from Sao Paulo the previous year and has made an impression on many observers with his consistent displays in his first campaign in Europe.
Some of Europe elite clubs started expressing an interest in the star only a few months into his time at Portuguese outfit and he has been regularly connected with a transfer away from Portugal.
Ole Gunnar Soslkajaer’s Manchester United have been connected with him, while the Red Devils and the Blues’ rivals Liverpool have been mooted as suitors in the latest weeks.
But according to a Madrid-based Spanish daily outlet Marca, Los Blancos are on the brink of signing the Brazilian centre-half from Porto.
The reigning European champions moved fast for him after he impressed the club’s scouts and are stated to have reached an agreement in principle with the South American star and Porto over a move.
The two sides have continued to hold discussions and Real Madrid’s management have agreed to pay a sum of €50 million for Militao.
The deal is yet to be made official but Eder Militao is widely expected to switch to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer market.
Chelsea wanted to sign Brazilian star as a replacement for either Andreas Christensen or Gary Cahill as the Danish star facing continuing uncertainty over his long-term future at the club and English defender is out of contract at the end of the season.
