Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of possible winter targets. From strikers to full-backs, the London club have been linked with them all. But one name that has not been mentioned is Man City centre-back John Stones.
The 25-year-old defender has fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola recently and has just played 10 Premier League games this campaign. Reports in The Sun suggest that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made John his number one transfer target.
Lampard’s Blues have struggled at the back this campaign. Each of the club’s centre-back options has had their moments which has led to speculation about a new defender coming in at London club this month. Nathan Ake and Lewis Dunk are two of the names linked with a move to the club, but Stones could be a more suitable option.
England international was a crucial part of a Man City team that won two league titles and is a key part of Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team. His experience could help nurture Blues own young English talent at the back and would have a positive impact on their development.
A move would also make sense for the English centre-back. John Stones will want to be playing first-team football in the second half of the campaign to ensure his Euro 2020 place.
