Chelsea want to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Leon Bailey this summer if they manage to freeze their transfer ban.
The Europa League winners filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are hopeful the ban on them signing players will be delayed during the appeal process.
The Blues have long been linked with Leon Bailey and have revived their interest in the 21-year-old winger, who is valued at around £80 million by his club, and that figure would make him Chelsea’s most expensive signing ever.
The Premier League giants are on the hunt for more options in attack after cashing in on Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard’s switch was confirmed this week and the English club will immediately collect £88 million for their talisman.
The Premier League giants want versatile young wingers and believe Leon Bailey fits the bill, despite enduring a difficult season in Germany.
The youngster was courted by a host of top clubs, including Chelsea, before he signed for Bayer Leverkusen back in January 2017, but managed to net only five goals in the 2018/19 campaign.
Christian Pulisic has already become a Chelsea player, and Ajax’s David Neres is another option for Maurizio Sarri’s team. But, all of Chelsea’s transfer plans depend on if they can get their transfer ban lifted and it remains to be seen if Maurizio sarri stays at the club.
