Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are in a race to sign Man United centre-back Chris Smalling, according to reports. England international is currently on a season-long loan with Serie A side AS Roma, where he has played 24 times in all tournaments.
The Giallorossi will try to land Chris on a permanent deal at the end of the season. However, it’s thought that both Spurs and Toffees are also keen on signing Smalling. Elsewhere, Bianconeri are also said to be keeping an eye on the situation to possibly make a swoop.
Despite having an impressive campaign, it looks that the 30-year-old defender doesn’t have a future at Old Trafford, with the Norwegian manager preparing to let him depart. It’s claimed that Man United would let the former Fulham player, whose contract expires in 2022, move on for a fee of nearly £17m.
The English centre-back joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2010 and has played 323 matches for the club, winning five major titles. Everton have excellent consequences in the Premier League as they are in a 9th place in the table.
Toffees signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Alex Iwobi from Arsenal, Moise Kean from Juventus, Fabia Delph from Man City and Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Mainz.
