Everton in pole position to sign 23-year-old Brazil international

Merseyside club are considering to call off a move for Gremio forward Everton Soares amid Carlo Ancelotti contacting the attacker. The report claims that Everton were heavily linked with a move for Brazil international in the last two transfer windows but have opted from making a move for the winger in the summer.

Everton had also told that the Italian manager had contacted him over a possible move. Soares came through the ranks of Fortaleza and Gremio’s youth system. The 23-year-old winger was promoted to Gremio’s senior squad in 2014 but struggled initially to claim a spot for himself in the club.

However, from 2016, the Brazilian winger has been a regular in the squad, playing a total of 177 games for the Brazilian club. In the process, Everton has scored 47 goals and chalked up 16 assists. He has been fantastic in the last three years, and his displays earned him a call up to Brazil’s squad for the 2019 Copa America competition.

Soares won the competition with Brazil and ended as the top scorer with three goals, scoring more than the likes of several big names in the tournament. He is also a Copa Libertadores Cup winner and has helped the Serie A club lift several other titles.
