Everton keep a close eye on 23-year-old Rangers centre-forward

Darren Bent revealed he is surprised that Toffees aren’t trying to sign Rangers centre-forward Alfredo Morelos. Laura O’Leary, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa footballer claimed that Gers could cope with selling Colombia international for £20m+ as they have got Jermain Defoe waiting in the wings.

Alfredo has scored 22 goals and registered seven assists in his first 26 games of the campaign for the Scottish giants, and recently grabbed his first goal for Morelos during their 1-0 win over Peru.

Bent explained that while the 23-year-old striker could be a little temperamental, he could score goals and had great ability, so wasn’t sure why Everton hadn’t been linked with making a move.

“I’m surprised Everton don’t try to go and sign him,” Bent said. “He’s a bit temperamental, but he can score goals, he’s got the great ability and to be fair to Rangers if they can go and get a load of money for him, let’s say £20m+ for him, they’ve still got, Jermain Defoe who gets goals week-in-week-out.”

Toffees have struggled for goals this campaign in the Premier League as they’ve only managed to score 13 in their first 12 matches of the campaign. Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are Everton’s top-goalscorers for this campaign, across all tournaments, having both racked up five goals so far.
