Everton planning surprise move for €40m-rated Serie A goalkeeper

Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to sign Alex Meret from Napoli in the winter transfer window. Carlo is reportedly unhappy with the performance of Jordan Pickford and wants to replace him. The report claims that he has run out of patience with Pickford, and has ordered the Toffees board to sign him a suitable replacement.

While the Merseyside club coach is keen to bolster his team across all areas of the pitch, signing a shot-stopper is a ‘top priority’ for him at the moment. Italy international joined Napoli in the summer of 2018 from Udinese for a reported fee of £30m.

Alex is a highly-talented young shot-stopper who has played under Ancelotti. Meret has played across all youth levels for his country and last year made his senior debut for Italy under Roberto Mancini in a 9-1 home win over Armenia.

Carlo has rubbished newspaper reports that he wants the club to add a new shot-stopper to replace Jordan. Everton have terrible consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in an 11th place in the table. Toffees added Djibril Sidibe from Monaco, Alex Iwobi from Arsenal and Moise Kean from Juventus in summer.
