Jurgen Klopp eyeing move for £40m-rated EPL centre-back

Liverpool should challenge Tottenham Hotspur for the Bournemouth ace.

According to the Sun, Tottenham are lining up a £40 million summer bid for Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake, but Liverpool are challenging their Champions League final opponents for the signature of the Netherlands international.

The Dutchman joined the Cherries from Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for around £20 million, and now he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s finest centre-backs and Nathan Ake has all the attributes needed to be a success at Anfield.

Liverpool currently have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren as centre-back options.

The England international has had his problems with injuries, however, while Lovren is far too inconsistent, so the Reds should consider moving the World Cup finalist on this summer, and bring in Nathan Ake in his place.

The 24-year-old star can also fill in at full-back, as well as in the deep-lying central midfield position so that he would be a versatile, top quality addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Bournemouth ace possesses pace in abundance, is strong in the air, and would slot perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s high-octane setup at the Merseyside club.

And for the reported fee of £40 million, he could end up being a real coup for the Reds, if they manage to beat Tottenham in the race for the centre-back’s services.
