Jurgen Klopp plays down injury of key midfielder

Jurgen Klopp discussed the condition of Jordan Henderson following the 2-0 win over Chelsea at Anfield.

The Merseysiders stormed back to the top of the Premier League table with an overall win over Maurizio Sarri’s side, but concerns had been raised regarding a possible injury blow for the club skipper.

Jordan Henderson was forced off in the closing stages of the game after he was on the end of a late challenge from the World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.

The England midfielder enjoyed an exceptional game on an individual basis as he controlled the middle of the pitch and contributed with an assist, setting up Sadio Mane’s header for the opener.

Mohamed Salah continued to make it two goals to the good for the Merseysiders with a thumping effort from a distance.

Following the 2-0 victory, Jurgen Klopp was questioned about the condition of Jordan Henderson and delivered a positive update on the player’s ankle issue. As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, he said:

“He got a knock his ankle, that’s pretty much all. He was fine after the game, not in pain and it was no twist. Not a problem.”

Liverpool need to win all of their remaining matches in the Premier League while Manchester City must lose one if the Reds want to win the title.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will visit Porto in the Champions League, and Jurgen Klopp hopes his men can perform under pressure at Dragão and beat the Portuguese giants to advance to the next round.
