Liverpool identified 20-year-old replacement for departing right-back

Reports in Bristol have claimed that some ‘very big’ Premier League sides have been showing interest in Lloyd Kelly, who has trained with the senior Three Lions squad at St George’s Park.

Liverpool are believed to have scouted the England Under-20 captain at Elland Road last month when Lee Johnson’s men lost 2-0 to Championship promotion contenders Leeds United.

The Bristol-born player’s profile aligns closely with that of current first-choice left-back Andy Robertson and, with Alberto Moreno expected to leave the Merseyside club in January, or when his contract expires in the summer, it would be no surprise to see Jurgen Klopp make a move for Lloyd Kelly.

The dull-back had a hand in all three of his side’s goals in a 3-2 victory at Ipswich Town last week, but Bristol City are not currently in promotion contention.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and local rivals Arsenal were understood to be monitoring Alberto Moreno’s situation and according to reports consider a move for 26-year-old Spanish defender, who fell out from the Liverpool squad entirely after Trent-Alexander Arnold appeared and is destined to leave the club in upcoming transfer windows.
