Liverpool set to miss out on landing South American No.3 defender

Porto versatile defender Eder Militao is set to land for Real Madrid in spite of interest from EPL heavyweights Liverpool.

Several sides are keen on the young South American and Real Madrid have moved fast to bolster a defence that has conceded 29 goals in La Liga this campaign, as many as relegation threatened outfit Real Valladolid.

According to a Spanish daily sport newspaper Marca, Los Blancos are confident that only Eder Militao’s signature is missing to finalise a deal worth €50 million (£44 million).

The 21-year-old star only signed for the Dragons from Sao Paulo last summer and quickly became a regular, swapping between right-back and centre-half.

Since the January signing of experienced central defender Pepe, Eder has often found himself on the wing, where the star played in the recent defeat to AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League.

His country’s national team have also taken note of these performances, awarding the star a debut in the September friendly match thrashing of Salvador.

Considering Croatia international Dejan Lovren’s poor performances, Joel Matip’s inactivity and the club’s management decided it needs to be bolstered in the summer transfer window. The Reds wanted to sign him but it appears Eder is on his way to La Liga giants.

Another Premier League giants Manchester United set to miss out on Eder Militao and it leaves question marks regarding their summer transfer policy.

This season, in all competitions, the Brazilian star has netted three goals and provided two assists in 32 appearances for his side thus far.
