Alberto Moreno has told Jurgen Klopp he will not renew his contract ahead of a move back to La Liga.
Liverpool star started against Wolves in the FA Cup on Monday night, but it does not change the fact that he has been replaced from the first-team by Andy Robertson.
Moreno has been used the season sparingly, making just two appearances in the Premier League this term.
The defender’s deal expires at the end of the season and Liverpool had planned to renew it, and a return to Sevilla is his coveted destination, though there are no plans from the club to bring him in.
Last month, Moreno took a pop at the Liverpool manager after slamming the way he had been treated.
“I do not feel good, that is the truth,” Alberto Moreno told Cadena Ser. “I hurt myself giving everything for this team, and I think that when I came back from injury, I deserved an opportunity.
“The situation is normal for a lot of players, but simply, I did not like the way he (Jurgen Klopp) has treated me, you can say that.
“Moving back to Spain is something I have thought about, I am tired of the cold here, but I do not know about interests from other clubs.
“I am in my fifth year here, there is no agreement on a renewal and in January, I am free to listen to any offer.”
