Liverpool to offload in-demand defender to Bundesliga

Liverpool ace Corey Whelan could be heading to Germany at the end of his deal on Merseyside.

According to Football Insider, the promising defender is in high demand this transfer window, and two sides from the Bundesliga have expressed an interest in recruiting the youngster.

Corey Whelan sees his contract at Anfield expire at the end of the month, with the Reds ready to let him leave on a free transfer. However, upon his departure, he will not be short of potential suitors.

Football Insider claims that sides from the second tier of Germany are also keen in the talent, while Football League club in England are contemplating moves as well.

The defender is an international for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-23 team, but despite the potential, he never featured for the Merseyside club at senior level.

Corey Whelan will now seek pastures new, and it seems the youngster could be the latest talent from the Premier League to arrive in Bundesliga if offers come in this summer.

Another academy product, Rhian Brewster is fully fit after recovering from a long-term injury, and the striker will be hoping to stake his claim next campaign.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones is another bright starlet who could have a future at Anfield, and he will need to work hard to outshine his senior teammates, with marjo Grujic being on the verge of joining Hertha Berlin.

The Premier League giants could also allow Harry Wilson to leave this transfer window, but he remains a promising talent.
