Manchester City signed Felix Correia from Sporting Lisbon this summer, and the Portugal youth international has now left on loan.
Summer arrival has joined AZ Alkmaar on loan for the campaign after arriving from Sporting Lisbon in July and was the Citizens’ third signing of the transfer window after club-record arrival Rodri and returning left-back Angelino.
The Portuguese is highly rated and represented his nation at Under 19 level at the U19 Euros in Armenia this summer. The 18-year-old bagged seven goals in 20 appearances for Sporting’s U19s last term.
Although it is hoped he could challenge one day for a place in the first-team squad of Pep Guardiola, he will spend the entire season on loan at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
The Eredivisie club announced the teenager has signed a one-year loan deal, with an option for a further 12 months. Max Huiberts, director of football affairs at the Dutch side, said: “We are happy with the arrival of Félix.
“Felix is a real winger with a lot of speed, individual action and depth. Nowadays you don’t see that much anymore with a player with these characteristics.”
The attacker ended speculation over his club future by joining the Premier League champions from Sporting, and he outlined his ambitions of breaking into the first-team and working under Pep Guardiola.
“I admire him a lot. The few times that I talked to him I was really impressed. I’m eager to start working with him.” the youngster told Vbet News.
