Manchester City are reportedly hoping that attacker Leroy Sane will sign a new deal at the club amid renewed interest from Niko Kovac’s Bayern Munich.
The Sun reported that the PL champions want the 23-year-old star to agree to a new deal at the club, with several months of contract negotiations failing to yield a renewed commitment from the star.
According to The Sun, die Roten are planning to make an offer for Leroy in January, even though he is said to be out until next year after incurring a cruciate knee ligament injury the previous month.
Manchester City rejected a proposal for Sane in the region of £70 million from the Bundesliga club this summer, as reported by the newspaper, with Bayern prepared to offer the star £400,000 a week to move to Germany.
Leroy had been a creator of chances and frequent scorer for Manchester City last season, with 16 goals and 18 assists across 47 games in all competitions.
Only Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling netted more for the club in the 2018/19 term, while only Raheem could match his assists tally for the campaign.
With Leroy out injured, his place on the left-hand side of the attack has been filled by Raheem, who has been very effective in the early weeks of the campaign.
England attacker followed up his hat-trick versus West Ham United in Manchester City’s Premier League opener with goals against Bournemouth and Tottenham, as well as scoring in the Community Shield versus Liverpool – the match in which Leroy picked up his cruciate ligament injury.
However, Raheem has yet to record an assist thus far this season, while Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva already have 13 between them.
