Red Devils continue to be linked with potential transfer moves for Newcastle United starlet Sean Longstaff and West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop. A piece in the Manchester Evening News details Man United’ transfer options and explains that the £50m-rated Sean stays wanted by the club ahead of winter.
This makes sense given Red Devils lack of options in midfield, with Nemanja Matic struggling for playing time after a bad pre-season, while Ander Herrera joined PSG in the summer without a replacement coming in. Elsewhere, Hammers defender Diop being a rumoured option for Man United, and he has previously been linked with the club.
Issa looks an exciting young talent who could strengthen the Red Devils back-line, though he won’t come cheap as the Hammers want as much as £65m for him. Longstaff has contracted with the Magpies until 2022, and his release clause is around €50m. Fred is in terrible form, Juan Mata already up to 30 and they need replacement.
If Man United could somehow get both footballers soon, it could go a long way towards improving things for Norwegian manager, who has endured a tough start to the campaign after arguably not strengthening enough in the transfer window.
Man United had terrible consequences last season as they finished the Premier League in a sixth position and knocked out from the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Red Devils signed several players this summer like Harry Maguire from Leicester City, Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and Daniel James from Swansea.
