Antonio Conte has identified Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku as his primary transfer target ahead of his proposed move to Inter Milan.
The Italian manager has been out-of-work since his departure from Chelsea, but he is expected to return to management to take over at Italian club and replace Luciano Spalletti.
Antonio Conte could be appointed as soon as next weekend once the Nerrazuri have played their final match of the season against relegation-threatened Empoli at the weekend.
Inter, currently fourth in Serie A, require a win to guarantee Champions League qualification next year with Atalanta ahead of them on goal difference and AC Milan a point behind.
If they seal a Champions League spot, Antonio Conte should have a plentiful budget to work with and he has identified Romelu Lukaku as a target having missed out on him back in 2017.
Antonio Conte was said to be furious at the Blues’ failure to land the Belgium international from Everton back in 2017 with the striker joining Manchester United instead and his alternative Alvaro Morata struggled to match expectations.
The Red Devils would be willing to part with the out-of-favour star with Marcus Rashford having established himself as the first-choice No.9 but would be looking to recoup a fee in line with the £75 million they spent to sign him from Everton.
Romelu Lukaku has made no secret of his wish to play in Serie A one day, even going as far as to say it would be a ‘dream’ of his as recently as April.
