Manchester United have asked Juventus for Douglas Costa in return for Paul Pogba, who has returned to form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in December, scoring four goals and assisting two more in four appearances.
Despite the recent displays, however, Paul Pogba is still said to be interested in a return to former club at the end of the season.
According to the Tuttosport, the Italian champions will look to pursue the World Cup winner again in the summer transfer window, and they could sanction the move of Douglas Costa in the opposite direction to ensure that they sign their man.
The French midfielder won four Serie A titles and two Coppas Italia during his four years in north Italy, before returning to Old Trafford for £89 million back in 2016.
Douglas Costa, meanwhile, joined Juventus on a permanent basis last year following a successful season on loan.
Manchester United were linked with the Brazilian winger several times but never launched the bid for the 27-year-old ace, and it seems that the Red Devils are willing to sanction the move until the French midfielder is in-form and has big value.
