West Ham United are set to keep Issa Diop and will demand as much as £75 million from Manchester United for the centre-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to bolster at centre-back this transer window, and the Red Devils have been frustrated by Leicester City’s £90 million valuation of Harry Maguire.
Issa Diop joined the Hammers in a £22 million deal from Toulouse back in 2018 and was impressive during his debut season in east London, where he formed a good partnership with Fabián Balbuena.
Jose Mourinho praised the French ace following the Hammers’ 3-1 victory against the Red Devils in October with the Portuguese manager particularly complimentary of the club’s ‘scouts’ who unearted the defender.
Manchester United placed a bid of around £40 million plus an unnamed player for Issa Diop, but it was declined out of hand.
West Ham are under no financial pressure to cash in on Issa Diop, and the Mirror claims it will take a record-equaling £75 million to convince them to sell the Frenchman.
Liverpool paid £75 million for Virgil van Dijk back in 2018 and has value has since skyrocketed following his displays for the Reds in the last 18 months.
The Hammers are understood to have cheekily requested Anthony Martial in any deal to sign the 23-year-old, but the Old Trafford outfit are keen to keep the forward, who signed a new five-year deal in February.
