Benjamin Mendy returns to Manchester City training as the defender has trained for the first time this season after suffering an injury last year.
The Frenchman, who signed from Monaco back in 2017, continues his recovery from a knee injury sustained the last term.
The full-back has been plagued with injury problems since moving to the Premier League which has restricted him to only 17 Premier League appearances so far under Pep Guardiola.
The left-back suffered his latest setback at the end of the campaign meaning he missed Manchester City’s pre-season as well as their opening matches.
Benjamin Mendy is taking one step closer to a full recovery as the Frenchman was spotted in training for the first time this season.
The France international was pictured laughing and joking with Bernardo Silva during Manchester City’s preparations for the Premier League clash with Bournemouth.
Pep Guardiola confirmed in his press conference before the Spurs match that he wanted the defender to focus on being fully healthy for at least a month before he can return to the starting eleven.
He said: “What I want from Mendy is for him to be fit. To be available for training sessions every week. He’s had almost two years out, and he needs to play. The first target is be fit rather than to play. To train regularly for a month then he has a chance to play.”
Benjamin Mendy is expected to battle Angelino and Aleks Zinchenko for a starting berth once he returns.
