Mauricio Pochettino is keen on signing a right-back this transfer window and Tottenham Hotspur boss is understood to have made contact with Dani Alves, who is a free agent.
Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be keen on a right-back, as both Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier’s futures are in doubt.
Alves has recently left Paris Saint-Germain after his deal expired, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have contacted the Brazilian.
Dani Alves is now 36 years old so he would only be a short-term addition at Spurs, but he could still be brilliant.
The Brazilian was one of the stars of the recent Copa America tournament, which proves that the experienced defender still has a lot to offer.
Dani Alves also recently took a pop at Unai Emery, which could put him in favour with Tottenham supporters and Dani Alves hinted that he did enjoy Unai Emery’s methods very much when working with him at Ligue 1 giants, and claimed that new boss Thomas Tuchel had made playing football fun again.
“The atmosphere he’s created here, he’s brought the pleasure back into coming to work,” the South American said. “You approach things with a big smile and energy.”
The signing of Dani Alves would surely go down well at White Hart Lane, but it does seem unlikely at this point.
Alves was on a massive contract at Paris Saint-Germain and would have to take a pay cut to join the north London club.
That being said, the Champions League finalists have been ready to spend this summer, and snapping up a player of the Brazilian’s quality on a free transfer would be an excellent move.
