Milan allowed Arsenal to sign 24-year-old midfielder

Denis Suarez was one of AC Milan’s primary target in the January transfer window, and even though the Italian giants’ sporting director had reached an agreement, a deal never happened.

SportItalia suggests that AC Milan’s owners, Elliott Management, interfered and blocked the transfer as the agent of Denis Suarez demanded a high commission, which the American hedge fund was not keen on allowing.

Hence, despite all the details being in place, the deal collapsed after long process of negotiations.

This allowed other sides to re-enter the running for the versatile Spanish attacker and Arsenal took full advantage of the collapsed switch to Milan, signing the now former Barcelona man in the last days of the market.

The Gunners brought the 24-year-old, who is not a new face to Unai Emery, on a paid loan for the rest of the season.

Denis Suárez has played under Arsenal boss at Sevilla back in the 2014-2015 season, and despite Denis Suarez being a proper central attacking midfielder, Unai Emery has shown a growing interest in deploying him on the wing, as he did at Spanish side.

In that area, Arsenal have lacked creativity, as the Gunners are currently playing Sead Kolasinac on the left and setting the Spanish attacker out on the left will immediately pump creativity into the side’s attack.

In his time with Villareal back in the 2016 season, Denis Suarez was directly involved in 18 per cent of their 44 goals, more than anyone else from that club.
