Newcastle interested in signing 23-year-old Turkish goalkeeper

Newcastle United have sent scouts to keep close tabs on Trabzonspor shot-stopper Ugurcan Cakir. The Turkish news outlet claims that Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have also sent recruitment experts to cast an eye over Turkey international, who has been ever-present for Trabzonspor this campaign.

Fotospor has recently reported that the Turkish club wants £17.6m for Ugurcan despite the Premier League interest that has been shown in him. As it stands, Magpies do not need a new shot-stopper. However, they may be keeping a close eye on Cakir until they sort out Martin Dubravka’s future at St James’ Park.

Slovakia international is currently in talks over a new deal after the summer transfer window saw him attract reported interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. There is every chance that there could be more interest in Dubravka based on his form at St James’ Park, so keeping an eye on possible replacements makes sense.

Turkish shot-stopper is a young goalkeeper who is playing regularly and has just started to break into the Turkish national team. It’s not exactly impressive that the 23-year-old shot-stopper has been beaten each time he has played this term.
