Newcastle interested in signing 31-year-old South American centre-forward

Magpies are part of a trio of Premier League sides who are interested in signing former Man City striker Felipe Caicedo. Ecuador international may now be 31, but he is embarking on one of his most successful domestic campaigns as the Rome-based side are building a genuine title challenge for the first time in a long time.

Simone Inzaghi’s team are top of the table after 26 matches, with Juventus two points behind with a game in hand, while Inter Milan are eight points behind with two games in hand.

Ecuadorian outlet Ecuagol state that Newcastle United join Everton and West Ham United in wanting the centre-forward, who could be available due to him not being the first choice, with the club being lucky enough to have Ciro Immobile and Joaquin Correa.

So far this campaign, he has still been a huge part of the club’s success, but perhaps not enough for the club to think he is indispensable. From 11 starts in 21 Serie A games, he has a juicy return of eight goals and four assists something which only Magpies supporters could dream of right now.

Additionally, at 183cm he is tall enough and strong enough to be able to play with his back to goal and suit the club’s direct style of football and could be a better goalscoring option than both Andy Carroll and Joelinton, who have just one league goal between them this campaign.
