Newcastle keen on signing £13m Sevilla ace

Ibrahim Amadou started only 13 La Liga matches for Sevilla last season and Premier League side Newcastle United could rescue him in January if the situation does not change.

The Magpies are interested in signing Sevilla’s ace, according to Estadio Deportivo the English club are making a rather belated attempt to reinforce Steve Bruce’s team.

Joelinton has arrived for in the club-record £36 million deal and, after Kyle Scott and Jake Turner were snapped up for free, Nice attacker Allan Saint-Maximin followed them to St James’ Park and if reports are true, the Magpies are looking to bolster their defence too.

Cameroon-born Amadou, who played for France at youth level, joined the La Liga club from Lille a year ago for £13 million but he started just seven times in a frustrating La Liga campaign, leading to speculation that he could be on his way out of the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after only 12 months.

Estadio Deportivo claims that Newcastle United and Getafe are both interested in Ibrahim Amadou, who is comfortable in defence and the heart of midfield.

The 26-year-old is not only versatile, but he is also a leader too and was immediately given the skipper’s armband by the legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa when he took over at Lille in the summer of 2017.

The former Sunderland manager looks set to introduce a new 3-5-2 system at Newcastle and Ibrahim Amadou could be the linchpin at the heart of their backline.
