Over the weekend, Magpies were once again linked with a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Ryan Manning. Newcastle United sent scouts to Elland Road to watch the attacking full-back in action against Leeds United.
It has been a robust campaign for the Magpies, with fan dissent rife following the departure of Rafa Benitez in the summer. However, they are still in with an opportunity of survival, although it may come down to which clubs have the best January transfer window.
There is no doubt that Ryan’s strengths lie in the front-line, having already racked up one goal and three assists so far this campaign. For Joelinton, it has been now from an easy start to life in PL football. As much as his performances have been poor, the service also has mostly been missing.
So bringing in another footballer with attacking intent, whose end product is usually spot-on, will only help his goalscoring cause. The defender is already playing the second choice to Jetro Willems and, with Bruce currently opting to use three centre-backs, it is unlikely that he will switch from the pacey option out wide any time soon.
