Newcastle United closely monitoring No.7 promising centre-forward

Magpies are thought to be interested in re-signing Blackburn Rovers forward Adam Armstrong, but Crystal Palace may also be keen. It’s claimed that Magpies are believed to be one of the teams interested in Adam, but Palace coach Roy Hodgson is an ‘admirer’ of the forward from his work in the England setup.

Blackburn are seemingly aware of the interest, and would allegedly demand an eight-figure fee for Adam, with more than two years still left on his deal. Paying eight figures for Adam would be tough to swallow for Magpies, as Rafael Benitez sold him to Blackburn for only £3m less than two years ago.

Blackburn could more than triple their money on Adam if they do sell, and a return to St James’ Park would surely be appealing to the attacker. Adam is a lifelong Magpies supporter and spent 12 years coming up through the ranks with Newcastle United, making 21 first-team appearances.

Adam was never really given a proper run-through, and having gone away and thrived at Blackburn with ten goals and six assists this campaign, he may feel he is in a better state to make an impact at Magpies. Capable of playing wide or up front, Adam could offer a versatile attacking option for Steve Bruce.
