Magpies have contacted Scottish side Queen’s Park to secure the services of youngster Reagan Thomson this winter. U17 Scotland international is being watched in the on-going UEFA U17 Euro qualification as Reagan provided two assists in their win against Iceland U17.
Reagan has played eight matches for Queen’s Park FC this term. Magpies, though, are not the only club to have shown interest in Thompson. Reagan has gained the attention of Celtic and Rangers, who are interested in Reagan after taking note of his services for Scotland U17.
The 16-year-old midfielder moved from QPR’s U18 team to the first-team in August 2019. Given the team’s amateur status, they cannot command a transfer fee for the starlet but can proceed for compensation since he is a youth footballer.
Scottish starlet made his international debut against Armenia U17 in October 2019 and has played three games, including the one in which they lost against Croatia. The Magpies were watching the midfielder in the clash with Croatia.
The 16-year-old footballer has featured regularly for QPR’s U18 and the main club since his move from Park Villa BC in 2012. He has quickly made his transition from Queen’s U18 side to the senior squad.
