Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their race of Ryan Fraser after the attacker revealed that he is likely to stay at Bournemouth for another year.
The Gunners have the winger on their summer shortlist, but the Cherries are demanding £30 million for the Scotland international, who has just a year left on his deal with Eddie Howe’s team and will leave on a free transfer next year if he fails to agree a new contract. And the 25-year-old has suggested that he does not expect to join Arsenal ahead of the new season.
‘The likelihood is I will be at Bournemouth for another year,’ said Fraser. ‘And what will happen will happen. ‘That is all I can really say about it. No one has really spoken to me about it.’
Despite the bad news, Arsenal will prioritise bidding for Ryan Fraser this summer as they prepare to decline a move for Yannick Carrasco, who has confirmed that he wants to leave Dalian Yifang after a one-and-a-half year spell in the Chinese Super League and the Gunners have been linked with the 25-year-old.
Ryan Fraser is significantly higher than Yannick Carrasco on the Gunners’ shortlist of targets after an outstanding campaign in the Premier League.
The Scott, tied to Dean Court until 2020, is valued at around £30 million by his club but Unai Emery only has around £40 million to spend on signings after the failure to qualify for the next season’s Champions League.
