Rangers could lose 22-year-old key man to Italian giants

AC Milan scouted Rangers’ striker Alfredo Morelos during Rangers’ win over Progres Niederkorn but could face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt who have also been tracking the Colombian.

Record Sport suggested earlier in July that the Bundesliga side watched the Gers’ star striker in the previous round and were considering an offer.

The Evening Times reports Serie A giants’ representatives were also in attendance for that victory over St Joseph’s and were at Ibrox again this week.

It is claimed the Premiership giants are aware of the Italians’ interest, but no offer has been made yet.

Alfredo Morelos hit 30 goals for the Glasgow club last term and has made no secret of his wish to play at the top level in Europe.

Earlier this week, the Gers managing director Stewart Robertson insisted the 22-year-old forward is happy at the club. Questioned if the club were confident of keeping hold of their star man, he said:

“Listen, we’ll see what happens. There’s been no bids for Alfredo so far. He’s started the season well. He’s playing with a smile on his face, so he looks happy to be here, and we’re delighted to have him.”

Rangers do not want to see the Colombian leave this summer, but in case he departs, Steven Gerrard wants to land Kemar Roofe.

Last summer, Eros Grezda and Borna Barisic arrived at Ibrox from NK Osijek and, earlier in the year, the Daily Record reported that the Gers were keen to raid them again for star striker Mirko Maric.
