Gers have set their sights on Liverpool starlet Herbie Kane in winter. The Glasgow giants failed in an approach for the 21-year-old midfielder in the summer but are set to reignite their interest in the upcoming transfer window.
Herbie is on their radar as Steven Gerrard looks to bolster in the middle of the pitch ahead of the team’s all-out title assault. Reds are ready to listen to offers for Kane in winter.
Gers will need to offload some of their back-up midfielders to create space in their squad and on their wage bill for Kane, with the likes of Andy King and Greg Docherty among those in the firing line to leave.
Herbie will certainly be in demand after showing promise in central midfield in Merseyside club’s youngest-ever side on Tuesday night when they lost 5-0 to Aston Villa.
It was the youngster’s second senior appearance for Liverpool and came after he shone last season for League One outfit Doncaster Rovers, where he started 39 league games among 49 matches in all tournaments.
The England youth international caught the eye by directly contributing to 17 goals from midfield, made up of seven goals and ten assists. Steven Gerrard has previously raided his former club to snap up Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo on temporary deals before completing the £8m late-summer permanent signing of Kent.
