Rangers in advanced talks with 33-year-old former Serie A midfielder

Claudio Marchisio is reportedly still considering an offer from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers. Former Italy international is a free agent after leaving Russian side Zenit St Petersburg over the summer and had knee surgery back in April. Steven Gerrard wants to bolster the midfield, and his primary target is Italian star.

Claudio was said to have rejected an offer from the Scottish club last week as he was closing in on the move to Monaco. However, Gers stay in the battle for Marchisio, alongside the Ligue 1 club and Brazilian side Flamengo. Gers need an experienced midfielder to strengthen the squad, and he is the best option in this situation.

Rangers currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership after three victories from their opening four games and have also qualified for the Europa League group stage. A move to the Ibrox for the 33-year-old midfielder would give the Scottish club a massive boost as they look to close the gap on arch-rivals Celtic.

Italian midfielder was an unchanged figure for the Bianconeri as he played 294 matches in Juve and scored 33 goals in all competitions. He won many titles with the Old Lady including Serie A seven times, Italian Cup four times, Italian Super Cup three times.

Rangers had an impressive result in the Scottish Premiership as they finished the tournament in a second position and secured the Europa League group stage place Scottish club signed several players this summer like Ryan Kent from Liverpool, Filip Helander from Bologna, Joe Aribo from Charlton and Andy King from Leicester City.
