Rangers in pole position to sign 24-year-old Championship goalkeeper

Gers are among the clubs interested in Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper Cameron Dawson. English shot-stopper is attracting plenty of attention ahead of the winter window. With his deal expiring in summer 2020, four clubs are monitoring his situation at Hillsborough.

Garry Monk is yet to decide on the future of Cameron. This has prompted Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Preston North End to take an interest. Gers are the fourth team in the hunt. Dawson is currently the second-choice shot-stopper at Sheffield Wednesday.

Experienced Irishman Keiren Westwood has been the primary goalkeeper, but the 24-year-old shot-stopper has played well when called upon. English goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in five matches this campaign and has not conceded in three league outings.

Cameron is a boyhood Sheffield Wednesday fan, but he might need to consider an exit for his career. Dawson has played 44 times for the Owls, conceding 55 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets. Scottish club could try to land a bargain deal in winter or discuss a pre-contract agreement.

However, Rangers face competition from three Championship sides. Englishman is good enough to be playing regularly in the Championship, but he needs a chance. Unfortunately, he is competing with evergreen veteran Westwood at Sheffield Wednesday.
