Rangers keeping tabs with 31-year-old Championship centre-back

Gers are in with a fantastic chance of reaching the last 16 of the Europa League this week, and yet, Steven Gerrard would be forgiven for feeling that he has several problems he needs to address. The Scottish giants have faltered since returning from the winter break.

It is going to take an incredible turnaround for the Gers to end their wait for the league title this campaign. And the latest blow came at the weekend with St Johnstone. Gers looked ready to get themselves out of jail with a 2-1 victory after initially going behind.

However, the Scottish club conceded a late equaliser to concede more ground in the title race. Unfortunately for Steven, it would arguably take a lot less time to list the footballers who got pass marks at McDiarmid Park than to reel off those who struggled.

But perhaps, no footballer endured a more disappointing afternoon than Nikola Katic. Nikola appears to be an incredibly popular member of the team amongst the fans. But he was extremely terrible with Tommy Wright’s side and played a key role in both of the goals Gers conceded.

With Filip Helander injured, Steven Gerrard looks to have few options to turn to. It would be a huge gamble to use George Edmundson with Braga despite his potential.
