David de Gea is linked with a move from Manchester United to Real Madrid as a returning head coach Zinedine Zidane is willing to bring the Spaniard back to his homeland.
The goalkeeper has been a target for Los Blancos for years, and while interest had cooled, it has been revived thanks to Zinedine Zidane being back in the hot seat at Santiago Bernabeu.
The Mirror claims that the French boss is a big fan of David De Gea, while he is unconvinced by his current stopper, Thibault Courtois.
The Frenchman is set to spend a big amount of money in the upcoming transfer window on some big-name players, with the Spain international thought to be a target for around £75 million.
David De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2020, and he has been in talks with the club over a new deal.
The shot-stopper is looking for an improved contract which would see his wages increased to £350,000-a-week. European champions will aim to test the resolve of the Red Devils and the Spaniard this summer by tabling a considerable transfer fee, with the keeper free to leave for free the next year.
The 46-year-old took charge of his first game since returning to the post against Celta Vigo at the weekend and dropped Thibaut Courtois to the bench as Keylor Navas replaced the Belgian.
However, Zinedine Zidane left the door open for the former Chelsea star to make it back into his first-team plans: ‘It’s not a final decision, there are ten games left. Thibaut is going to play again.’
