Athletic Bilbao sporting director Rafa Alkorta has confirmed that his side are keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.
The Red Devils triggered a one-year extension in Ander Herrera’s deal last season but the 29-year-old ace, who has started only two of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s opening five matches, becomes a free agent in the summer.
While talks over a new deal are understood to be progressing well, the midfielder is yet to put pen to paper at the Theatre of Dreams and Athletic have sent an exciting proposal to the Spain international.
Athletic club, whose transfer policy limits them to only signing Basque players, also admitted that Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente is on their radar.
‘We are interested in Javi Martinez, Ibai [Gomez], Ander Herrera, Llorente,’ Alkorta told Cadena Ser. ‘It’s obvious that any player that can play for Athletic is of interest to us.
‘Nothing is easy, but we are interested in having all of the ones that can come. ‘We have not made any moves yet. We will start on Tuesday, and we will see what can be done.’
