Christian Eriksen is willing to return to Tottenham training this week with expected bids for him yet to materialise.
The 27-year-old stated last month that he would ‘like to try something new’ amid transfer links to Real Madrid and Juventus, but neither club have made a move for the Dane.
Christian Eriksen’s situation has been held up due to both Real Madird and Juventus making Paul Pogba their first choice signing in midfield over the summer.
The France international has stated his intention to leave Manchester United before the beginning of the campaign, but negotiations over a deal for Paul Pogba have got nowhere so far.
The World Cup winner’s representative, Mino Raiola, has stated that his client is ‘in the process’ of leaving the Red Devils, but with the European giants yet to make an appropriate bid, Christian Eriksen remains in limbo.
As the Dane was playing for his country last month, he has been given extra time to enjoy his summer holiday before returning to the club.
The midfielder is expected to return before the weekend, though, and will slot back into his position as a crucial player in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
However, the Guardian reports that Tottenham may want to cash in on Christian Eriksen, if possible, as they try and land several midfield targets, including Dani Ceballos, Giovani Lo Celso and Nicolo Zaniolo.
With Christian Eriksen having just one year remaining on his contract, Spurs may prefer to sell him this summer and buy a replacement with the funds.
