Unai Emery has admitted that Laurent Koscielny is close to returning for Arsenal and is confident the centre-back will be in action soon after the international break.
The veteran defender has been sidelined since May after he ruptured his Achilles tendon during Arsenal’s semi-final Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid.
The 33-year-old returned to training at the end of the summer but has yet to feature for the club this campaign. Arsenal face Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League before hosting Wolves in the Premier League this weekend before the international break begins.
‘He feels better in each training,’ Unai Emery said on Wednesday. ‘He is close to being with us for competitive games. ‘We are happy with him.
‘He is with us every day, and we are going to think after the international break how we continue working and playing games.’
Laurent Koscielny, who missed the World Cup this summer, is linked with a move to Camp Nou, as Barcelona are nervous with Samuel Umtiti’s injury.
The Spanish champions are struggling at the back with Clement Lenglet not providing enough quality for the Catalan giants.
