Carlos Sanchez is out of deal next year and looks unlikely to be handed an extension by West Ham United after falling down the pecking order. Colombia international will need replacing at the end of the season, but the Hammers could look to bolster their midfield in winter due to their dwindling numbers.
West Ham have Sanchez, Declan Rice, Jack Wilshere and Mark Noble at their disposal, but Carlos and Jack have amassed only 217 minutes of Premier League football this campaign. One footballer on their radar was Isaac Hayden, but they failed to procure his signature from Magpies last summer.
Hammers should consider returning in winter, however, as he would be perfect signing to the squad. The £22k-per-week midfielder is a regular on Tyneside, having played 12 games in all tournaments and making one assist. Hayden wants to get regular playing time and ready to listen to offers during the summer transfer window.
With West Ham United sitting 13th in the Premier League with 16 points from 14 matches, having picked up only one win from their last eight, they desperately need fresh blood. Hammers signed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt and Pablo Fornals from Villarreal during the summer transfer window.
